Meet the Team: Patrick Nalepa
While attending Hillsdale College, Patrick studied financial management, graduating in May 2016. As a senior in college, Patrick knew he wanted to venture into the personal finance sector. Once he began interviewing at different companies, he realized that there were key differences between Gainplan and the rest of the firms. Each of the alternatives wanted him to go out and sell to his family and friends in order to earn commission to put food on his table, but not Gainplan. Though he had very limited exposure to the rest of the industry, right away he knew there was something unique about this company.
Patrick knew that at Gainplan he would be part of something larger than himself, while still having a direct impact on clients and his own future. The challenge that comes with rarely knowing exactly what each day, or week, will hold is what keeps Patrick on his toes and his heart pumping. When asked the most rewarding part of his job, he answered, “Hands down, seeing clients hit their goals – whether it is sending a child to college, taking their entire family on a cruise, or retiring early, seeing the client’s face light up makes everything worth it.”
Personal finance is not Patrick’s only passion. He is an ardent golfer and even had the opportunity to play in college. When we asked him what he would be doing for a living if not able to work in the personal finance industry – with little hesitation – Patrick said, “I would give being a club professional or tour caddie a shot. There is just something about a game that is impossible to perfect, and only slightly less difficult to master.”
